Thanks but the patches will not install as Vace's installer doesn't ask for an install directory and does not create the registry entries for the patcher installer to know where the game is.

Yes, game do not register itself, but there is no problem since core gets version number from exe and support file so you just need to install patches in this same directory as the game. Works for me and four of my friends, mods works too.
